Finding Beauty in the Brokenness

Finding the beauty
Kintsugi is a Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using lacquer mixed with gold, silver, or platinum. This process makes the pottery more beautiful by highlighting its breaks rather than hiding them. Instead of discarding broken pieces, they can be reassembled in a way that honors their history and showcases their beauty. Like pottery, we all have flaws and brokenness, but if we look closely, we can find beauty in ourselves and our lives. In coaching, we explore both the brokenness and the beauty, as this is where creativity and new ideas emerge. If you're ready to discover the beauty in your life alongside your challenges, contact me for a free coaching consultation.
About Me
I am an ordained Presbyterian Church (USA) minister, a retired Board Certified Chaplain, and an Associate Certified Coach through International Coaching Federation (ICF). Most of my professional work has been in hospice with a heart for offering intentional care and support for caregivers and workers. I am passionate about working with people who are grieving a loss, whether it is a death of someone close, an unexpected job loss, or a shift in family roles, to help process their emotions and find a path through their pain, so that they can begin to heal and move forward with hope and clarity. I believe honoring the brokenness and the beauty that surrounds us is vital to the work I do. I enjoy working with individuals who want to improve how they view themselves and the world, even when life feels like it is full of broken pieces.

Coaching supports personal growth through self-discovery. A coach uses positive questions to encourage deep thinking about your thoughts and feelings, leading to insights that guide your actions. The coach helps clarify your desires and goals rather than giving instructions.
Active listening is essential; the coach perceives spoken and unspoken cues to reveal deeper themes, fostering a safe space for expression. A certified life coach also uses intuition to identify subtle hints that enhance the process, helping you recognize patterns in your behaviors and thoughts.
Ultimately, you are the expert in your life. The coaching relationship focuses on building your strengths while addressing growth areas, guiding you toward a fulfilling life.

Coaching is distinct from therapy, consultation, and mentorship. It doesn't focus on past issues but rather on discovering your own solutions. While consultants provide answers and mentors share their expertise, a coach guides you to uncover your insights and perspectives, empowering you to choose how to use them.
